GB@home

In exciting news, the Going Bananas school holiday program will be held online this year. Rebranded GB@home, it will include many of the usual fun-filled activities, with a whole lot of crazy new stuff as well.

Included are stories, prayers, songs and crafts, plus a minute-to-win-it challenge, banana fitness workout, a mega Zoom game, some silly banana pranks and several puppet news bulletins. Of course, Professor Starshine will also pop in at the end to answer people’s questions (even though he doesn’t actually speak) and there will be a puppet gogglebox segment too.

Extras will showcase banana recipes in a brand new cooking segment, as well as the world championship of banana throwing with a handful of seasoned GB leaders taking on some grade 6 students to see who can launch their bananarang the furthest.

Video content is expected to run for at least 40 minutes, with opportunities to pause the video feed and do other activities around the home, such as gather resources and complete the craft. All clips are filmed at leaders’ homes to fit the theme, with a couple shot in nearby parks. Kids will love it, parents will be amused and it will help families pass school holiday mornings, no matter where they are.

Thanks for checking out Going Bananas. We hope to resume in 2021. In the meantime, enjoy GB@home.
